DENMARK IS HAPPINESS
PLACE VISITED: COPENHAGEN & ROSKILDE
DENMARK
My family and I recently had the opportunity to visit Copenhagen and Roskilde, Denmark. We had a wonderful time exploring these two beautiful cities, and I wanted to share some of our experiences with you.
We started our trip in Copenhagen, the capital of Denmark. Copenhagen is a vibrant and cosmopolitan city with a lot to offer visitors of all ages. We spent our first day visiting some of the city's most popular attractions, such as the Tivoli Gardens, the Nyhavn waterfront, and the Little Mermaid statue.
The Tivoli Gardens is an amusement park that is over 170 years old. It is one of the most popular tourist attractions in Copenhagen, and it is easy to see why. The park is beautifully landscaped and has a variety of rides and attractions for all ages. We had a lot of fun riding the roller coasters, playing the games, and watching the shows.
The Nyhavn waterfront is a popular spot for tourists and locals alike. The canal is lined with colorful townhouses and restaurants. We rented a boat and took a canal cruise, which was a great way to see the city from a different perspective.
The Little Mermaid statue is one of the most iconic landmarks in Copenhagen. It is a bronze statue of Hans Christian Andersen's fairy tale character, the Little Mermaid. The statue is located on a rock in the harbor, and it is a popular spot for tourists to take photos.
On our second day in Copenhagen, we visited the National Museum of Denmark and the Louisiana Museum of Modern Art. The National Museum of Denmark is a large museum that tells the story of Danish history and culture. We learned about the Vikings, the Middle Ages, and the modern era. The Louisiana Museum of Modern Art is a museum that houses a collection of modern and contemporary art. We saw works by Picasso, Warhol, and other famous artists.
On our third day in Copenhagen, we took a day trip to Roskilde. Roskilde is a city located about 30 minutes from Copenhagen. Roskilde is home to Roskilde Cathedral, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The cathedral is the burial place of Danish monarchs. We took a tour of the cathedral and learned about its history.
We also visited the Viking Ship Museum in Roskilde. This museum houses a collection of five Viking ships that were excavated from Roskilde Fjord. The ships are over 1,000 years old, and they are incredibly well-preserved. We learned about the Vikings' way of life and their shipbuilding skills.
Overall, we had a wonderful time on our trip to Copenhagen and Roskilde. From the bustling streets of Copenhagen to the picturesque landscapes of Roskilde, our trip to Denmark was a magical adventure that our family will cherish forever. I highly recommend these two cities to anyone looking for a fun and educational family vacation.
