Sisterakas Adventure 2024
Our Taiwan adventure began on October 28, 2024, which was also my sister Len's birthday. Flying out from Manila on Air Asia, we were filled with excitement and curiosity, ready to make memories. Our first day in Taipei was all about flavors and experiences. We tried so many different foods—each one unique and delicious, leaving us in awe of the rich flavors Taiwan had to offer.
Thanks to our wonderful guide, Ms. Bernadette, a friend of my sister from Calapan, we navigated Taipei with ease. She showed us the city's best spots, and each place felt like a treasure, waiting to be discovered. With every step, we soaked in the sights and sounds, tasting new flavors and finding joy in little surprises at every turn.
The next day, we traveled to Taichung and nearby cities, wandering through vibrant markets, serene temples, and fields of flowers. It was a magical day spent laughing, snapping photos, and simply being present in the beauty around us. I felt truly connected to my sisters, sharing these joyful, precious moments together.
Then came the unexpected. On our third day, Typhoon Kong-rey hit, forcing us to cancel our plans to explore the north of Taiwan. While we felt a pang of disappointment, there was something comforting about being safe together, weathering the storm as a team. We spent that day indoors, swapping stories, reminiscing about our past travels, and imagining future adventures. The typhoon may have changed our plans, but it gave us a different kind of memory—a reminder of how unpredictable life can be.
As the storm lingered, we grew anxious about the possibility of our flight back to Manila being canceled, with numerous cancellations piling up across Taipei. Yet, in the quiet of that waiting, I felt grateful. This Taiwan trip became a beautiful reminder of how lucky I am to share these moments with my sisters, whether under sunny skies or amidst a storm.
